For the past month, Vic wholesale Cal22 base futures prices remained relatively flat and hovered around similar levels to the same time last year. In NSW, the trend was mostly up, with pricing now up around 20% on last year. There were 2 significant reforms in the NEM with the introduction of 5 minute settlement, along with the Wholesale Demand Response Mechanism (WDRM) going live. Both initiatives increase market agility and help deal with increased renewables. In NSW indicative peak/off peak retail rates were around 8.5/5.5 c/kWh and Vic 6.7/3.9 c/kWh.
